The Freedmen's Bureau was established in March of 1865 in oder to provide aid and counseling for nearly 4,000,000 newly freed African-Americans. Created by President Abraham Lincoln the Freedmen's Bureau was a milestone in assisting African-americans and moving towards racial equality.
